Blessingways
A blessingway is a celebration of a woman’s journey into motherhood. Unlike a baby shower, where the focus is on gifts for the baby, a blessingway honors and focuses on the mother to be. Through play, ritual, and gifts of the heart, we envelop a woman in love, which allows her to soften and connect to her inner strength, as well as her emotional and spiritual powers. In so doing a woman comes away from her blessingway feeling ready to face the challenges of labor and birth.
The emphasis is on the power of pregnancy and new motherhood, the divine purpose each woman has in bringing new life, and on the passage of the individual woman.
We also offer private sessions during which we create a “breast and belly cast.” These are beautiful and creative reminders that honor the reality of the transitions your body experienced during pregnancy.
Belly Casts
Celebrate and honor your pregnancy, your body, and the gift of life. We can help you create a Plaster-of-Paris exact replica of your beautiful, pregnant belly at full term. The belly cast will be a lasting image of your pregnancy that can be painted or decorated, an artistic expression of the miracle of life. It is also lots of fun to make, a relaxing time which can help solidify the connection between you and your baby before birth as you “view” the space you have made for your child. The completed cast will be dry and ready for painting or may be displayed in its natural form.
Some couples choose to leave the cast in its natural state until the baby is old enough to paint the belly himself.
Birth Pool Rental
Water has been shown for years to be a wonderful comfort measure for labor. We offer the option of renting an easy to assemble birth pool. Unlike other birth pool rentals we provide everything needed for laboring and birthing in the water including the pool, hoses, liners, thermometer, a coupling to attach to a water source, a pump for easier emptying, and step by step instructions on how to use the pool. Fees are dependent on whether you pick up the pool, we deliver it, and whether you would like us to set it up for you in labor.
