Childbirth Education and Preparation

We believe pregnancy and birth are normal, natural, and healthy processes. We believe that the knowledge of how to birth exists within every woman and therefore seek to instill in the mother confidence in her innate ability to give birth. We believe in providing women and their partners the information necessary to make educated choices regarding labor and birth.

Childbirth Education classes are an integral part of bringing these ideals to fruition. Classes are offered several times a year in a variety of formats in an intimate small group or private setting.

Preparation for Natural Childbirth

Belief systems and philosophies of pregnancy and childbirth
Emotions of pregnancy and labor
Nutrition and exercise
Physiology of labor and birth
Medical interventions and choices

Birth Planning
The partner’s role
Comfort measures for labor and birth
Relaxation and visualization
Newborn choices & early bonding
Breastfeeding and postpartum

Full Series Classes

Classes are offered several times a year as a 25-hour course.

Ideal for first time parents and parents desiring natural childbirth, this class includes the components of the breastfeeding and baby-care class.

The fee for this series is $375.

Refresher Classes

Three sessions lasting two hours each for the couple who has been through childbirth education classes for a prior birth and wishes to attend a refresher class. This class will cover beliefs and philosophies of childbirth, choices in childbirth, emotions of labor and comfort measures.

The fee for this mini-series is $150.

Sibling Class

A two-hour session for couples and their children to emotionally prepare for the upcoming birth and arrival home of a new baby. Class will focus on age-appropriate materials about fetal development, the experience of labor and birth, and the sibling relationship with the newborn.

The fee for this class is $40.

Private Sessions

Structured to meet your individual needs, these sessions will focus on any of the above topics you wish to consider for your upcoming birth.

Sessions are two hours each. The fee for each two-hour session is $150.

Travel costs are additional if we do the session as a home visit.
